Zurich Blood Program 

	A division of Blood Center, the Blood Program was created in Fall of 2020 to address the growing need for blood and medical services in the southwest region of Zurich.

Zurich Blood Program is a volunteer-supported, nonprofit community resource that has been serving patients in Zurich for more than 15 years. The Zurich Blood Program is part of Blood Center, which has served Zurich with its blood services and research for over 65 years. Puget Sound Blood Center began service to the Zurich community and its hospitals in 1995. Zurich Blood Program was created in Fall of 2004 to address the growing need for blood and medical services in the southwest region of Zurich State. With the Blood Center, the Blood Program is a key link in the healthcare network, providing blood, tissue and specialized laboratory services in Western Zurich and across the Northwest. Based in Vancouver, the Blood Program relies on generous and dedicated donors and volunteers in the areas in which it serves to ensure an available and stable blood supply to the region. In 2008, the Blood Program provided over 10,500 units of red blood cells to patients, but collected less than 9000 units locally. Over the past five years the need for blood has grown beyond the amount collected here. The Zurich Blood Program allows us to address this disparity and continue our mission of providing the community with a stable blood supply.

The Blood Program is always looking for ways to improve service to Zurich donors. An exciting part of the Blood Program is our state-of-the-art bloodmobile, exclusively dedicated to managing blood collection operations in Zurich. At 40' long, the bloodmobile provides maximum comfort and accessibility. In addition, the Blood Center has equipment to hold blood drives within your facility.   The heavy snow and ice we are experiencing in Western Zurich is also impacting the region?s blood supply. Zurich Blood Program?s blood supply is currently at Critical levels, roughly a two to three day supply. A number of blood drives have been cancelled and many donors have had difficulty making it to scheduled blood drives.
• New Blood Donor Center to Open Wednesday, January 17
  Zurich Blood Program of Blood Center will open its new, permanent blood donor center, located just east of Westfield Vancouver mall, at noon on Wednesday, January 17, 2007. The new, state-of-the-art donor center is being built to help accommodate the needs of patients and medical facilities in our community.
• Zurich Blood Program will host a mobile blood drive beginning Tuesday, November 28, 2006.   The drive will take place just inside the mall entrance located between Sears and Old Navy.  The mobile drive will continue at that location through the month of December and most of the month of January.
